History of ABAC/AMAD Franz Liszt

(Brief notes on Grottammare, the country that hosted the great musiciens Hungarian)

The Medieval Village (South Country) in the past has been the focus of all cultural, social, civil and religious Grottammare. In this village, albeit of limited scope, since it was built using the architecture of its municipalities, the plan of Piazza Peretti it reveals clearly belonging to the municipality. This clearly can be deduced from its geometric irregularities, by the provision of small roads in the confluent and the fine coordination of the forward spots. And 'This is the historical period in which Grottammare is transformed and integrates up to the typically medieval island town, with a rural area and a small port with predominantly commercial.
Within the walls that enclose the village was the Palazzo Comunale, the Post Office, the Head of the Parish, the Theater and the arcaded shops, these buildings, almost all located in this square, designed as a true collective space. Maggiore just outside the city, there was the hospital.
E 'be remembered that the village was closed by 3-door (now missing): Major port from which you access in square Peretti, Porta Marina, which is accessed from one side to the Church of St. Lucia, the other to the Battle Tower and on the other hand it down to the harbor, (missing time), Castle Gate marks the border with the hills and the castle (now a ruin)
Inside the village there were three churches, one outside the walls today while St. Augustine have been two.
The village has hosted, with unprecedented pomp, four queens and a Governor: Christine of Sweden, Maria Anna of Spain, Margaret of Austria, and Catherine of Württemberg Bianca Visconti Sforza (first woman governor in history) Governor of the Brand, granted under this
by War of Wise and her husband Francesco Sforza, in eternal struggle with the neighboring municipalities, particularly the City of Ripatransone, Francesco after Bianca left with a large garrison to defend the village.
The village has three hosted king: Jerome Bonaparte, Vittorio Emanuele II and Umberto di Savoia crown prince.
He has hosted two Popes: Alexander III, of the century Rolando Bandinelli of Siena (see history of the Jubilee and Jubilee plenary indulgence)
Pius IX, of century Giovanni Maria Mastai Ferretti, of Senigallia

Hosted Cardinal Decio Azzolino man of refined culture lover of literature and the arts.
The beautiful Cardinal (as defined the chronicles of the time) in 1665 it had built a villa, whose architectural style leads to Bernini, almost certainly in contact with him. Cardinal Grottammare to spend part of her life with Christina of Sweden tied to the meaning of love from him and together they founded the Arcadia to Grottammare. Villa Azzolino (so today is called the building Bernini) in the past with a beautiful park adorned with trees, fountains, shady road and citrus unfortunately devastated by time and human neglect. The villa recalls, though in smaller proportions, the Palazzo Rospigliosi in Lamporecchio (Tuscany).

The residents of the village until the 60s were 1500 (now just a hundred).
In it there lived ancient and prestigious families such as the Duke Scoccia chassis, the Marquis

Laureati, the Speranza, the Marquis De Angelis, the Counts Palmaroli(family still lives there).
Other families had ancient residents: Addazi, Albini, Capocasa, Desideri, Loy, Malfatti, Mascaretti, Rocchi, Tizi.

Two major religious events dating from the end of '600 and '700 are beginning to realize Grottammare:
The Jubilee Festival and Procession of the Dead Christ. The first takes place every time the first falls on a Sunday in July, the other every three years.

The Medieval Village, as shown by its history and here it is given only a very small part,
had an important role not only between the neighboring countries but also in the piceno.
Around mid dell'800 the Village lost its importance following the formation of the first cities of fishermen along the coast and with the retreat of the sea created the first factory, the first stores of goods, while the administration moves towards the emerging new country in which still remained. The dichotomy between the Marina and the High Country has lasted until the'60s. In fact, this rivalry between the two parties was strongly felt by young people.
Since the end of the'60s began a slow and inexorable decline in every sense of this village, so that a group of citizens concerned about the exaggerated and deprivation which paid for many years the High Country, began a violent battle with the institutions totally indifferent to the very serious problems reported by residents.

In 1983, however, something changes: the old political party that had ruled for over 20 years is finally beaten and breathe new air of change.
This real change of direction in the political history of Grottammare, leads to the head of "public affairs" a young architect by the Mayor who are conscientious about the fate of the country. He being the son of a renowned painter-sculptor has learned from his father's love for art and by his mother, a professor of letters, the elegance. The personal qualities of this young mayor, such as planning skills, humility, patience and elegance of the ways they are a director quite different from the stereotypes of previous municipal administrations.
He knows mostly listen without being necessarily obliged to give everything to everyone.
The consensus, if anything, the research in the implementation of proposals set for the good of the country.
The mayor in question is the arch. Francesco Capponi , recently deceased, for which the memory and gratitude of the Association are perennial.
Another person who is grateful the ABAC is the prof. Emilio Vita then Head of Culture which, together with the Mayor, gave to the trust, respect and support without which probably would not have had the incentive and courage to continue its operations.
In this context, citizens residing in the Medieval Village enthusiastic and confident hope for change, decide to set up a committee to become a spokesman for the residents at the Municipal Administration.
They thus formed a committee called just "the High Country" whose founders are Prof. Ermanna Zarroli, which then will the association as secretary and researcher of popular culture and dialect, Alida Capocasa in Abini, late unforgettable friend Domenico Albini, Antonio Cameli, Professor. Joseph Albini, Claudia Pignotti, Giuseppina Pagliarini, Pomilio James, painter, known as "Tarp" Lorenzo Straccia, Silvana Spinosi in Addazi Mary Nascimbeni in Straccia and Augusto Ridolfi.
The Association has a large number of members, also from neighboring countries.
Free from political influence and religious, respectful of the ideas of all components,
eight in June 1984, by Deed of Notary Dr. Dario Pallisco first member together with dr. Giorgio Rivosecchi, the Committee turns to the Association for Protection of Cultural and Environmental Heritage of Grottammare. Gianni Manzoni is its first President.
The ABAC has three main objectives:

- The preservation of architectural heritage with a recovery plan target of
    areas of historical interest;
- Promotion of cultural events, to try to recover the country's culture
    in general, and especially the music;
- The search for young musical talents for a generational change.

The Association also proposes to remedy the structural damage of the "Old Incas" that "crumbled" literally under the indifferent eyes of the various successive political leadership in the country and especially in the eyes of citizens, concerned about the serious situation for the various cracks formed on the walls of the village and houses, as well all'inesorabile slipping from west to east of the Old Incas, situated on an ancient cliff.

The violent battles, beginning immediately with the first meeting of the citizens of the High Country during which denounces the new administration the total abandonment of the Medieval Village and particularly its churches, of the Battle Tower and the prestigious Teatro dell'arancio completely dilapidated.

The Association instructs members prof. arch. Manlio Piattoni and Mr. Cameli Antonio, an expert in antique restoration industry to conduct a research on municipal property in private hands, a search on land abandoned and dilapidated houses, a map of the spring waters and scattered records of almost non-existent sewerage.

A search on the friability of geophysics and subsurface layers because of the continuous landslides started from 1000 up to the disaster of 1929, (when separating a part of the Mount of Quaglie) is commissioned on behalf the ABAC always, by 'architect of Turin dott. Edda Follis Giovannetti, an expert in geophysical surveys and restoration of medieval villages also at European level.
The survey conducted on the ground skillfully presents results almost identical to those provided by similar analysis conducted on the cliff of Orvieto, where the architect develops a particular technique of blocking terrain landslide slip from east to west. Unfortunately, the study of the arc. Follis was not welcomed by the new Administration, the Administration succedutasi Capponi. (Perhaps because they cost little, so it is malicious then).
The new administration is proposing its own "geologists and engineers' preferences so that other projects demanding but perhaps not quite focused and not take any account of the particularities of the urban country of South Grottammare. In front of the harsh protests from the population highlighted by fiery televised debates, as a result of repeated messages from technicians and experts of the Association, after several complaints falls on CNR Rome amending the project and its implementation, thus giving a solution issues reported by the city and the 'Association.

The Association, began the organization of cultural projects which formed an integral and important objectives in its program and aims to recover the culture of music, partly interrottasi in the far 1908 with the last held in the theater and theater of Orange finally abandoned in 1918 owing influenale so-called "Spanish" whose victims needed for the burial of wood materials that constitute the structures of the theater. While upstream of all the difficulties there who continues to fight tenaciously to keep the torch of art as Don Ruggero Desideri, a man of refined intellect and enlightened, parish priest of St. John the Baptist still Pievani.

Born so far for his determining a leading theater company staging the work of the highest level and a choir made up of items that have nothing to envy today choirs to large international musical institutions. The ban imposed by the laws in the establishment of fascist circles and parish activities, turn off the faint light so painstakingly kept alive in the social fabric of the time. Throughout this period the function of theater dell'arancio is greatly reduced because of espoliazioni mentioned above.
The small theater is represented in the remaining parish theater. Of Orange in the theater several years passed from hand to hand to individuals who use them for purposes not always properly cultural.
With the advent of the situation changes and changes a lot.

The first action of the force is represented by a complaint to the Ministry of Culture as two public monuments had been purchased by individuals: Battle of the Tower, the Opera House of Orange.
Following were repurchased, with the money of taxpayers, the 'Municipal Administration settled in the late 90's to come in possession of the two public monuments.

The second measure of force was to return to the village church of St. Lucia, closed for years and years by side in a state of latrine (it was so that when the church was handed over to the).
In consequence of this was put to 'care of the diocesan bishop a detailed report on the unfortunate situation, the list of missing property belonging to the church of St. Lucia and the serious condition of Pievani of St. John the Baptist whose frescoes put on arches for the rain fading and the church along with many of the friezes that decorated the stucco arcade, falling continuously on the "heads" of the faithful, the infiltration of water had literally opened a furrow on the floor of 3cm for the entire length of the church.

On 7 July the Bishop of the parish priest at the close of the keys of the church of St. Lucia for visits due to the President of the Association, in view of the concert season.
The anger and pain, representatives of the ABAC opening of the church have been so strong as to be induced to hold a press conference, also a local broadcaster in order to send the resume to the Vatican. The wisdom and the elegance of some members have passed the pain and anger, putting an end to this situation squallidissima.

The first concert season is reopened after 76 years with a concert in the historic church of St. Lucia, a former house of Pope Sixtus V, dedicated to the will of his sister Camilla, the Holy musician.
The concert was held July 14 1984, historic day for the Association, was executed by the famous Romanian Quartet "Academia" Today "Irish quartet, whose members, persecuted by the communist regime of Romania, with infinite pain left their families and their country to seek refuge in Ireland.
The concert season of classical music are the presence of musicians of great prestige as one of Daniel Rivera pianists Liszt par excellence, the flutist Severino Gazzellon i accompanied by Solisti Aquilani , the first violin of St. Cecilia Stefanato Angelo, Margaret Burton of the most significant pianiste South Africa, Lucia Passaglia, Eddy Perpic, Giorgio Gaslini, Marco Vavolo, Mike Melillo, Mario Rusca, the duo Haijaski, Tony Scott, Irio de Paula, Ojgen Jingjch fourth prize at the Warsaw in 1970 (the first three were not assigned) the Melbourn Quartet made up of young musicians coming from the prestigious European Youth Orchestra under the age of the components can not exceed twenty-five years and so many other musicians

Some concert seasons, had the presence, incognito, among the large audience, some musicians of Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra and Sir George Solti with his family.

(See press release) on holiday in nearby Martinsicuro.

Concert with the seasons follow each other theatrical seasons equally fortunate that greening the theater in our vernacular. Start a historical research on the origins of the dialect of Grottammare with some German students of the University of Heidelberg faculty of letters and Romance philology.

Enthusiastic young people working together with German citizens of Grottammare.

They thus formed a theater company that dialect as actors citizens themselves.

The Theater Company brings dialect on stage, in dialect of Grottammare, stories of famous and characteristic of the town and some of the Brothers pièces theatrical De Filippo and Principe Antonio De Curtis in art Totò, in addition to a production of comedies written by Ermanna and Zarroli by Rosanna Sebastiani with contributions by Bruno Bondi, Mario Lanciotti,

Mario Pignotti and Tilde Rosati.

The delightful comedies and comicissime of the dialet of Grottammare I want to remember:

The memory (the old and the child), The Circus in Grottammare, The Sweep, Sister Cecilia, The Marriage Agency , "The Barber" by Grottammare.

The one in Italian (disastrously comic) The restoration of the Sistine Chapel comedy

based on much confusion. For obvious reason the titles are mentioned in Italian

Prof. Ermanna Zarroli, dialect researcher meticulous care of the scenic el'infaticable Prof. Rosanna Sebastiani directed care. Actors are the unforgettable late mythical Mario Pignotti said "Biccherù" particularly led by the acting and the extraordinary Maria Teresa Rosati said "Tilde". The actors recite without script, improvising.

Spectators are excellent director Romolo Siena and the star Swiss mannequin Leonarda Fenocchi.

The success achieved by pushing the ABAC to organize a season not only in theater but also in vernacular Italian of works by various authors such Cecov, with his unique 3 Acts, brought on stage by the trainees of the Piccolo by Milan, in the charming square the Medieval Village, including the Company of Rancia brings a delightful scene in the show by Pasquale Festa Campanile, director and performer Saverio Marconi, through which, in the summer of 1985, with great joy of all, the group appears on the page shows de le Figaro (see press release). Saverio Marconi commends the ABAC and commitment of individual citizens who drive to bring culture into the social fabric. In a few years, the Association gives luster to the country, reviving interest in the culture.

In 1985 he organized the first training course for piano directed by M° Manuel Verona. The courses are attended by young musicians from nine countries: Denmark, Italy, Novergia, Portugal, Spain, Turkey, Sweden, Palestine, Israel

The most successful of the latter two countries, are made to sit side by side, in the hope of fostering a constructive dialogue and above all friendship. The two wonderful pianists, one Palestinian and the other Israeli, overcoming the difficulties arising from the decennial disastrous situation of their countries, not only forge a strong friendship but a moving instauraro solidarity that will last throughout the period of the master, arousing deep emotion and satisfaction in 'Association: the power of music overcomes all barriers!

In 1986, the ABAC is organizing the "Young Musicians Press" that ranges from opera to Tools. The outstanding teachers, interact during the performance, speaking, and considering the evidence, giving advice to performers. The event can be a model which is inspired by today's Liszt Competition, however, only limited disciplines of piano and composition.

In 1987, the Association brings on stage the great work Liszt Totentanz, the dance macabre medieval re-enactment where it is clearly pointed out the eternal conflict between good and evil, the precariousness of existence and the disintegration of the body.

Spectacular and evocative held during the evening hours, with the use of three oxen, a wagon of corpses "(dancers) the death with the scythe, a brazier of fire, symbol of hell, a stage with steps and a cloth of stars, the heaven, which was the victory over death.

The parade started from the High Country, through the major streets of the center of Marina,

Finally in square Pericle Fazzini (then Triestini Martyrs Square) just below the present site of the 'ABAC, using the show to the terrace below the offices of the Head, as suspended between heaven and hell heaven.

In 1988 joins the season-operatic concert classical timidly with the Jazz musicians from the international concert seasons. Grottammare becomes almost another Umbria Jazz with musicians who have marked an epoch in international jazz.

It gives much space to emerging groups, are organized so the wise Jam Sessions for the Guest Stars to interact with the Giants of Jazz and the new generations, these seasons last up to 1992 from this date onwards were organized re-enactments and medieval rural.

In 1997/98/99 it rekindles the spirit of the association social conventions are made in scientific and social cooperation with the local section ARCI ( Recreational Cultural Association of Italy ) and the Civil Hospital of St. Benedetto del Tronto, but something still was missing the Association, because just a progettto almost spasmodic working group will organize another, had never finally met.

In 1998 an ABAC member becomes aware of an act of war of which he was a protagonist of Grottammare emerito citizen during the Second World Domenico Bruni, father of our colleague

Teacher Bruno Bruni.

Following the above report, the Association is diligent in investigating the historical sources that gave rise to the same.

In fact, in the fall of'1941 our fellow sent on a mission to Marina Trapani, while preparing to land at the quay of the port of Trapani a lighter load of explosive material, was attaccatoa by enemy aircraft in flight who tried to grazing gunner to make it explode.

The courage and sense of duty leads to our fellow citizen to remove the explosive material outside the port of Trapani at risk of their lives, thus avoiding a real massacre of the population.

The fellow in question, as already mentioned, was induviduato in the guise of military Sottocapo torpedo Domenico Bruni, whose heroic act has led the Association to request through the Competent Authority a coin d'Oro al Valor Militare for his " Memory. "

Are directly involved in the Sicily Region and in particular the Province and the City of Trapani places that have benefited from the favorable outcome of heroic action which has averted

A sure massacre of the population and the destruction of the port of Trapani and the nearby homes.

The Province and the city of Trapani to deliberation of the Board have unanimously appovato ratings and so did 'the Ministry of Defense and the Interior approved the grant to the decoration of Valor Military and Civil, Military in favor of "memory"

In the summer of 1999/2000 are taken over all the musical activities.

Concerts-confrenze (music ragionata) classical music, opera and jazz.

The program schedule is ambitious because the group aims to create concerts with famous musicians, called "First Music Review Routes"

In 2001, "Second Music Review Routes" through the ancient Churches of Grottammare.

In 2002, "Third Review Itineraries Riviera."

In that same year something happens, the Association is aware of the publication of a booklet "Liszt and the Small Places" whose author is Prof. Claudia Colombati professor of music history at the University of Macerata, commissioned the Head of Culture Dr Matilde Menicozzi for the celebrations of 130 years from Liszt to stay Grottammare.

The Association strongly feels the need to pay homage to the great Hungarian, organizing a competition dedicated to him. In fact, this year was born the National Piano Competition "Premio Franz Liszt" in his capacity as the trial after obtaining consent from International Societies and Academies later become International.

In the 2003 "Fourth Review Piceni Itineraries Musical" starts at Ascoli Piceno, August 7 and ends in Ripatransone December 20.

Participate in the competition with its own premium five neighboring municipalities, making it a frame.

Obviously, the routes are called Piceni because they have a clear aim to create the combination Liszt and Piceno. The concerts were held in ancient theaters and historical sites of Ascoli, the Grottammare to Offida, Porto S. Giorgio, San Benedetto del Tronto and Ripatransone.

Also in 2003 the competition became international and is in its first edition.

In 2004 came the International Composition Competition "Premio Franz Liszt" that goes beyond all our rosy forecast.

In 2005 the second international edition of "Premio Liszt"

In 2006 and in 2007/2008 "December Liszt"

In 2008, third edezione International Award Liszt "
